District heating and cooling supply outages

When repairing the network or connecting new customers to it, there can be outages in the distribution. However, these interruptions are usually short. If the electricity distribution is restricted due to a power shortage, it will also affect district heating, because the district heating circulation pump does not work and cannot circulate heat to the property. The indoor temperature of district-heated homes and properties does not drop significantly during a two-hour power outage if heat is kept inside.

Short power cuts have minor effects on district-heated homes and properties

In the winter, Finns have been advised to prepare for two-hour regional restrictions on electricity distribution due to the electricity shortage. During a power cut, the district heating circulation pump does not work and cannot circulate heat to the property. The indoor temperature of district-heated homes and properties does not drop significantly during a two-hour power cut if heat is kept inside.

Note! Beware of exceptionally hot water. During and after a power cut, it is good to be careful when running hot water from the tap or shower, as the temperature of the water may vary and it may be exceptionally hot.

Power cuts usually have no effect on the recovery of the heating function. If the heating does not start working after a power cut, first contact the property manager and the maintenance company or, ultimately, Fortum's customer service.

Please note that the district heating network map cannot be used to plan excavation work
